Dave Portnoy, aka El Presidente of Barstool Sports, became famous for making videos with pizza review content. His videos, filled with humor, knowledge, and honest criticism, were enjoyed by many. However, now is the time to rate one of his products – a famous Barstool One Bite pizza that was launched at the end of 2021.
HappiFoodi produces this pizzeria-inspired frozen meal, and they do a decent job with it – they do not come straight from Dave’s kitchen. However, El Presidente had the final say in every decision-making process, so you know it cannot taste bad.
Reviewing the pizza from a famous pizza reviewer is never an easy task. Still, I will follow Dave’s policy and deliver nothing less than complete honesty.
Barstool offers Italian-style stone-baked pizzas with four different types of toppings – five-cheese mix, pepperoni, supreme, and three meats. With perfect crust and not-so-perfect toppings, each of these frozen pizzas can be a fine meal and stand high on the frozen pizza scale.
Is Barstool Frozen Pizza for You?
Those who want to save time, energy, and money often opt to prepare a frozen pizza rather than ordering or making one, as this is both easier and cheaper. There are numerous frozen pizza distributors on the market – many of them are pretty awful and can’t begin to compare with Barstool frozen pizza.
Although frozen pizza can never taste as good as a freshly made one, Barstool’s products are a pretty decent substitute. So, when you want quick but still edible pizza for a relatively affordable price, Barstool can be a good choice.
As long as you’re not expecting too much from this frozen meal, you won’t be disappointed. If you have high expectations, however, it’s better to look elsewhere than the frozen Walmart section.
What We Like About Barstool Frozen Pizza
The best quality of Barstool frozen pizza is in its crust – it’s probably the best frozen pizza dough on the market. The product is marketed as Italian-style, stone-baked pizza, and judging by the crust’s look and taste, they don’t lie.
As for the texture, the crust is chewy and soft in the middle and crispy on the edges, which is not at all easy to achieve, even with freshly made dough. They maintained a soft texture under the toppings while keeping the bottom nice and crisp – excellent job!
Once baked, the crust gets nicely golden-brown coloring. After removing the pizza from the oven, I was pretty satisfied with how the whole dish looked – and it smelled divine. Additionally, whole pizza contains fewer calories than similar products, which is always a plus for those counting their caloric intake.
Quality topping contributed to the predominantly fresh taste. The lack of ice burn is just a bonus. I haven’t stumbled on any, which is a good sign since it’s one of these things that can spoil a perfectly good frozen meal.
Last but not least, one of Barstool frozen pizza’s upsides is well-thought packaging, with a box that contains easy-to-follow directions, nutrition facts, and even an allergy guide.
What We Don’t Like About Barstool Frozen Pizza
Let’s start with the flavor – or the occasional lack of it. The slices I tried lacked some of the basic pizza seasoning, such as oregano, garlic, or basil. Moreover, not only was the pizza sauce not strong enough, but I could barely taste it. If you plan to eat it in the future, make sure you prepare your own toppings to add.
The five-cheese mix pizza tasted the best, but the only cheese I was able to recognize was mozzarella (although a good quality kind). You wouldn’t be able to distinguish the remaining four pizza cheese types, even when you read about them in the ingredients section.
Also, keep in mind that you may need to bake pizzas for a little longer if you want them to be well done. Mentioned cheese pizza took 17 minutes to bake (not 13 as was stated on the box).
Finally, the box states, “One Bite. Everyone Knows The Rules”, which is a catchphrase Dave uses in his reviews. However, for those who are not familiar with his work, this caption can be misleading – 12″ pizza is a lot bigger than one bite.

Final Breakdown
8.5
Barstool offers better-than-average frozen pizza, especially if you consider the price. You may get a better taste with a higher-end product, but you would also have to spend more money. Therefore, it provides an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
The lack of rich flavor is this pizza’s biggest downside, but remember that frozen pizzas never recreate the taste of the freshly made ones. However, when you’re in the mood for pizza but need time and cost-effective solutions, Barstool One Bite pizzas can provide you with more than a decent meal. Therefore, make sure you always have a box or two in your freezer.
