Whether you’re using your Traeger for outdoor cooking, or simply looking for a new addition to your grilling accessories, a pizza stone is a must-have for any grilling enthusiast.

Recently, I was talking to a friend who owned a Traeger about whether or not they could cook pizza on their stone. I told them, “Sure you can, as long as you have a good pizza stone!” Of course, this begs the question, what’s the best Traeger pizza stone?

The best pizza stone to use with your Traeger is the Unicook rectangular pizza stone. Its rectangular shape makes it perfect for the Traeger’s griddle, and guarantees that your pizza won’t stick to the grill surface, get burnt, or fall between the cracks.

It’s time to upgrade your baking game and elevate your outdoor cooking with a pizza stone for your Traeger grill.

By using a pizza stone, you can ensure that your dough, cheese, and toppings are heated to the perfect temperature, resulting in a crispy crust and melted cheese every time.

So, fire up your grill and try out one of the many recipes available for making the perfect pizza on your Traeger grill.

In today’s post, I’m going to give you a quick rundown on the Unicook pizza stone and mention a few other alternatives. Let’s take a look!

The Best Traeger Pizza Stone: Unicook Rectangular Pizza Stone Review (Amazon Link)

Having a Traeger pizza oven surely is an investment you should consider if you want to boost your kitchen equipment. But, if you’re a true pizza lover like myself, then you need to consider getting all the Traeger pizza accessories as well. Now, you may be wondering why you need to buy the best pizza stone for the Traeger grill in the first place. So, let me take a minute to explain why pizza stones are so important for making a good pizza.

The main benefit to using a pizza stone is that they help your pizza to evenly cook, meaning that one side won’t be more or less cooked than the other side. In addition to that, pizza stones also apply extra heat to the bottom of the crust, which is exactly what you need if you want to achieve that crispy stone-fired pizza taste.

Last but not least, a pizza stone will ensure that your pizza cooks well inside of your grill. That’s why you need to have the best pizza stone for grill. If you were to just place your pizza straight on the grate of the grill, two things could happen:

  • Your pizza could stick to the metal, causing you to mess it up while trying to peel it off.
  • Your pizza could sag between the cracks in the grate, causing deformities.

Why The Unicook Rectangular Pizza Stone Stands Out for Traeger Grills

If you do it right, there’s no reason why your Traeger barbeque grill can’t bake just as good as a pizza as a large ceramic Forno Bravo pizza oven can. The best pizza stone for Traeger like the Unicook rectangular pizza stone will give your pizza a nice flat surface to rest on.

This will not only cause it to cook more evenly but will also prevent the pizza from sticking or falling between the grate.

So, now that you know why you should use a pizza stone while baking pizzas on your Traeger, let’s take a quick look at why the Unicook rectangular stone is the best choice.

Rectangular Design: Perfect Fit for Traeger Grills

If you look at your Traeger grill’s grate, the first thing you’ll notice is that it’s rectangular. The other day, I wrote a post reviewing the Green Egg pizza stone, which is designed to work with the circular design of those Green Egg grills. The same principle applies in this case. Rectangular grill; rectangular pizza stone.

Thick and High-Quality Ceramic Construction

Unlike some of the cheaper discount pizza stones on the market, the Unicook is made from super-high-quality ceramic that’s designed to stand up to the extreme heat produced over an open flame. While your Traeger may not be heating up to 950-degrees like my Ooni wood-fired oven, it still heats up well past 500 degrees.

The Unicook’s heat-resistant design means that you’ll never have to worry about it cracking or breaking under heat!

Other Notable Pizza Stones for Traeger Grills

Now, my friend ended up purchasing the Unicook option that I recommended above, and he’s been nothing but happy with it so far. However, if you’re unable to find that particular model, here are a few runner-ups that are worth mentioning.

Pizzacraft 15-Inch Square Pizza Stone (Amazon Link)

Whether you’re cooking a supreme pizza or a delicious taco pizza, Pizzacraft’s 15-inch square pizza stones are also a great fit for your Traeger grill. They offer an extra 3 inches on the side than the Unicraft stone, which gives you a bit more space. However, the larger size may mean that they can’t fit into some of the smaller Traeger grills, so just be sure to double-check your measurements.

Kamado Joe Pizza Stone (Amazon Link)

If you prefer to use a more traditional circular-shaped pizza stone, then I can’t recommend the Kamado Joe pizza stone enough. I’ve been using mine for several months now and have been extremely satisfied with it. It features extra-thick ceramic that you’ll never have to worry about breaking or cracking under heat, and it’s guaranteed to cook your pizza a lot faster.

Choosing the Ideal Material for Your Pizza Stone on a Smoker

These stones are essential if you want to bake a pizza with a crisp crust in the oven. You may find grill grates, oven grates, smoker grates, and more in a wide variety of forms, sizes, and materials. Pizzas can be baked to a lovely golden crust right on the BBQ, but it can be tricky to do so. Pizza stones that can be used on an open flame or on a grill are quite beneficial. You may use them for making artisan bread and buns, and even cookies or other sweet items, so they have many more uses than just pizza.

Cleaning and Maintenance Tips for Your Grill Pizza Stone

You may find that your pizza stone gets a bit dirty after using it inside of your Traeger grill. All of the smoke can blacken the stone and the pizza itself may leave crusted bits of toppings or cheese on the stone. Thankfully, it’s a fairly simple process to clean it! After all, it’s the best pizza oven for Traeger grill you can find on the market, and there’s surely a good reason (better say reasons) for that.

All you need to do is make a simple paste from baking soda and water, rub it over the surface of your Traeger pizza stone, and then scrub it hard with a brush. I wrote a full guide on cleaning your pizza stone a while back, so check it out if you’re interested.

If you own a Traeger grill, then there’s no reason why you can’t bake a great pizza on it. However, the key to baking an excellent pie is to use a ceramic pizza stone. In my opinion, the rectangular Unicook pizza stone fits perfectly into the space in your Traeger grill.

The large, rectangular stone will prevent your pizza from sticking to the grate or worse- melting and sagging between the cracks in the grate.
